Last month it was revealed that Mortal Kombat would not see the light of day in Australia. Then Warner Bros were quick to act and placed an appeal into the Australian classifications board defending their title.
The board deemed the title "unsuitable for persons aged under 18 years to play" (Australia does not have an 18+ rating) and Warner Bros declared that their game was no more violent than some other titles released in the territory.
It seems that the classification board did not agree with this statement and under their authority the game shall not be released in the country. Warner Bros have since replied to this announcement with the following message
"We're obviously extremely disappointed that the Refused Classification decision has been upheld by the Classification Review Board...We want to thank the thousands of Mortal Kombat fans in Australia and around the world who have voiced their support during the appeal process."Source: Gamespot
