Akuma, Taskmaster Help Settle the Score In Marvel vs Capcom 3

By Mark

Akuma joining the fray in Capcom's upcoming fighter Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds wasn't especially surprising but having confirmation is always a bonus, it's not only the Street Fighter star joining up though. Taskmaster of Marvel fame will be joining the battle too as two trailers showing each character in action confirm for us.

Those that can't wait for this needn't worry too much as the title releases February 15th for NA and the 17th for the EU. For now settle down and enjoy the mayhem.

Asura's Wrath Reappears, Now Angrier

By Mark

TGS was a bit of a strange one in 2010, not many of the usual suspects were there or showing off anything major. One surprise though was Asura's Wrath which is an upcoming collaboration project between CyberConnect2 and industry giants Capcom.

While there still is relatively no information on the game itself, we do get more of a feel for the title's aims, and that is to really go for the throat in terms of its action. Massive enemies, hordes of goons and one hell of a super charged main character; sound familiar?

Once any information as to features, date, gameplay etc trickle out be sure that we'll have it.

Dead Space Dismembers The iPhone

By Mark

Games that aren't in the main Dead Space franchise have come out before and haven't really done all that well or been entirely good products, an example is the Wii title Dead Space Extraction and the PSN, XBLA title Dead Space: Ignition were not exactly great games (the latter being just awful).

It looks as though that's about to change now however with an upcoming iPhone title of all things, now don't go dismissing it yet as it actually looks pretty good. You'd imagine some horrible minigame title or clumsy port but no, this looks like all the dismemberment of the home console versions in the palm of your hands.

The plot will bridge the gap between Dead Space 1 and 2 so that's at least one reason to pick it up and the game won't be 'on rails' so to speak. There's no set in stone date yet but if there's any word you'll know.

Red Faction Armageddon Trailer

By Mark

The latest video to come from THQ for Red Faction: Armageddon has been released. This time around depicting the events of the prior game and what has happened to explain the circumstances of this latest instalment.

Expectations on this game for me are varied, Red Faction Guerilla was a blast at times due to the open ended nature of it although that seems to have been taken away in the sequel, stay tuned for more info as and when it comes.

The Conduit 2 Weapon Trailer

By Jonny

The first Conduit game showed that it was possible to make a good FPS game on the wii and with Conduit 2 the people over at High Voltage Software are showing us that they can do it again but even better. Check out this new trailer showing off some of the crazy and not so crazy weapons in action.

How To Make a Bulletstorm Henchman

By Mark

All titles generally need that random faceless goon type enemy that you will kill in the thousands but have you ever wondered how developers go about making them?

People Can Fly have taken the time to release a short video that goes through some of the process to making our glorious generic enemy although Bulletstorm's enemies do seem to have more variety than other titles.

Bulletstorm hits next month and is looking to bring back the fun and skill in FPS that these days seems all but gone.

World of Starcraft In Development (Well Sorta)

By Mark

Starcraft II's mod tools are quite impressive, especially for an RTS as we've seen mods ranging from a survival horror title to a bejwelled like game.

It's not an official mod nor is it a seperate game so don't let those hopes of yours fly up to quickly, but it's interesting to see what fans will do given the opportunity. The pre-alpha trailer released shows off some Terran units but it's likely that there will be other races too if the project isn't killed by Blizzard.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Engine Detailed

By Jonny

Bethesda have already announced that they will be using a brand new engine for Skyrim,  which lets face it is very good news  and now they have decided to shed a little more light on the new engine and give us an insight to what we can expect.

The new engine which is being dubbed the "Creation Engine" has a host of new tools that promise to make Skyrim the most technically impressive Bethesda game to date.

Bethesda Studio's creative director  Todd Howard said this in an interview with Game Informer "The big things for us were to draw a lot of stuff in the distance so we have a really sophisticated level of detail, more so than what we've had in the past for how things stream in and how detail gets added to them as they get closer to the camera. Because our worlds are so big all of the lighting has to be dynamic," he said. "That's something we had a little bit of in the past with shadowing, but not on everything. Now we have it on everything. It just makes the whole thing a lot more believable when you're there.

The visuals are only the beginning of the massive improvements expected from Skyrim, the AI has had a massive overhaul to deliver more believable NPC behavior and thanks to the implementation of Havok behavior make them look much more lifelike too.

Now this all sounds like wonderful news for fans of Bethesda who have been dying for them to get of the ugly looking Gamebryo engine.

Skyrim is set for release on November 11 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC

Final Fantasy XIII-2 Trailer

By Mark

Well it's not the 20th but a low res version of the trailer for FFXIII-2 has hit the web, the developers are promising it will be a better title than the original in every single aspect.

Whether that's to be believed is a matter of opinion. Anyway here it is -

The Last Story Begins TV Campaign

By Mark

The Last Story launches on the 27th of this month in Japan so Mistwalker Studios are kicking the advertising into gear with a sort of mini trailer.

It depicts main character Elza and his mercenary crew in battle along with other random segments of the game and remember, this is a Wii title and it looks fantastic for one.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 Official

By Mark

There'd been evidence of Square Enix registering the domain for Final Fantasy XIII-2 to suggest that there was a sequel in the works and now it's all official. With the strikingly strange part...it's due for release this year in Japan.

A trailer was shown off at a big secret Squar Enix event but we'll be able to see it on the 20th January so keep your eyes peeled, the trailer shows FFXIII protagonist 'Lightning' crossing swords with an unknown purple haired character.

It won't be directed by the series character designer this time but instead is handed over to Motomu Toriyama so make of that what you will. As to what type of game this will be we're not sure, it may still just be an RPG or may not but when we know you'll know.

Update - Now with extra added screenshot. Yum.

Mass Effect 2 PS3 'Noticeably Better' Than Demo

By Mark

For the PS3 gamers out there that tried their hand at the Mass Effect 2 demo released a while back shouldn't fret if they found performance or visuals a little unsatisfactory as over on the Official US Playstation Blog Chris Priestly (community coordinator of Bioware) said:

'The demo was, for certification and testing reasons, about a 2 month older build than the final “what you will play when you get it home” version. I think you’ll see that the game is noticeably better at launch. =)'

So worry not folks, the game will be the definitive version as said by Bioware themselves this isn't a port and alot of work has gone into the release.

'Your Mom Hates Dead Space 2'

By Mark

EA have launched a new campaign for upcoming title Dead Space 2 and the message is simply 'Your Mom Will Hate Dead Space 2'. There are three videos that show certain motherly ladies subjected to the action survival horror affair and their reactions are understandable.

Dead Space 2 hits at the end of the month, who's excited!?
