Halo 4 - 'Dramatic Innovations' and 'Slight Tweaks'

By Mark

343 Industries have spoke somewhat about what people can expect from the next iteration of Halo. Speaking with CVG, 343 creative director Frank O'Connor says that Bungie attempted to innovate in some way with each game.

The original Halo tried to nail down the control schemes on sticks and Halo 2 brought improvements to system links and LAN connections. One thing he was clear about was that the team want to keep Halo as Halo:
"Ultimately the core game mechanic and strength of the universe doesn't need to be changed, it just needs to be taken deeper. We want to make Halo games - we don't want to make Call of Duty or Ridge Racer. We want to make Halo games because we understand what's special about Halo."
He also goes on to talk about how he feels 343 will make an innovative installment even though the title will be the fourth on the same hardware:
"So no matter when it comes out, the next Halo is going to contain improvements. Some of them are going to be dramatic innovations while others will be slight tweaks.
Undoubtedly long time fans of the series will be looking closely whenever the next main Halo game launches as it will be the first without creators Bungie at the helm of development.
